My creative journey
The journey has been long, like an endless wire. Like a long line of different stages, always in the process of developing skills (image from 2015, sketches from my Master in Design, Art and Craft). As long as I remember I’ve been into drawing. It’s been “my thing” along with gymnastics.
I’ve always been an outgoing person, but at the same time felt the need to withdraw. To create and draw activated both my hands and brain. This has always given me a place of solitude, somewhere I could reflect upon life, and gather my thoughts. My sketchbooks and diaries with drawings, ideas, sketches, plans, and writings followed me everywhere. I dreamt of becoming a painter or an illustrator when I was young but didn’t have the courage or faith in having the required talent - to live that dream.
Hence, I navigated my need for a creative career into graphic design, and later into teaching creative subjects in upper secondary and university. When my health was at stake (some years ago), the dream resurfaced in my consciousness - almost like a life-saver. All the layers of life, from happiness to sorrows, and everything in between, created a basis for my visual expressions on canvas. Finally, I claim to be a real artist, combining painting with graphic design and meditation skills.
I hope my journey through life and all the years spent on creating, convey a meaning, an essence of (the power of) being. Phenomenology, morphology, psychology, and organic existence/ relations are my philosophical fundaments. They make the grounds for everything I create.
